APC card plot: Adamu Movement alleges bid to disenfranchise members in Nasarawa

The Rtd IGP Adamu 2027 Movement has raised concerns over what it described as a coordinated attempt by some political actors to suppress and disenfranchise members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State through alleged manipulation of the party’s membership registration process.

Chairman of the Movement’s Contact and Mobilisation Team, Hon. Isa Nathaniel, accused certain individuals of trying to frustrate the ongoing grassroots mobilisation and distribution of APC membership cards across the 13 local government areas of the state.

According to him, the alleged actions threaten internal democracy and undermine the principles upon which the APC was founded.

“The APC is not the private enterprise of a privileged clique, nor a structure to be manipulated for selfish political preservation. It is a party sustained by the sacrifices, loyalty and electoral strength of ordinary grassroots members,” he stated.

Nathaniel condemned what he described as attempts to intimidate and exclude genuine party members for political advantage, warning that such actions could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also dismissed claims that only membership cards allegedly issued or endorsed by the APC State Secretariat would be recognised for future party primaries, describing the narrative as false, unconstitutional and aimed at creating confusion among party members.

“For the avoidance of doubt, neither the Constitution of the APC, its operational guidelines, nor the Electoral Act confers exclusive legitimacy on membership cards solely on the basis of endorsement by the State Secretariat,” he said.

He maintained that grassroots registration, ward documentation and mass mobilisation remain lawful channels for strengthening the party structure and expanding participation.

Nathaniel further warned against using party structures for factional dominance, stressing that suppressing loyal members could damage the APC’s unity and electoral prospects in Nasarawa State.

The Movement called on APC supporters and stakeholders across the state to remain calm, vigilant and committed to legitimate mobilisation efforts, insisting that no genuine member should be intimidated or excluded from party activities.

“The destiny of Nasarawa State will be determined by the collective will of the people, not by fear, propaganda or political merchants seeking to monopolise party structures for selfish survival,” he added.
