Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted cocaine and opioid consignments concealed in outbound parcels destined for the United Kingdom and Australia, while also destroying over 65,000 kilograms of cannabis in coordinated nationwide operations.
The agency said the seizures were made on Friday during inspections at a Lagos courier facility, where officers uncovered 170 grams of cocaine hidden inside a carton of clothes bound for Australia. Another shipment heading to the UK contained pentazocine injections, tramadol capsules, and promethazine ampoules concealed in cartons.
In Delta State, NDLEA operatives destroyed massive cannabis farms in Ukwuani and Ughelli North LGAs, recovering and destroying 65,000kg of skunk. Two suspects were arrested during follow-up raids.
In Kaduna State, officers also intercepted 1,989 rounds of 7.62mm military-grade ammunition hidden in sacks of garri along the Abuja–Kaduna highway, with the suspect transferred to another security agency for investigation.
A separate operation in Abuja led to the arrest of a 29-year-old businessman allegedly producing cannabis-infused cakes and cookies for party distribution. Edible cannabis products and skunk were recovered from his residence in Life Camp.
Additional operations across Ogun, Taraba, Edo, Oyo, Kano and other states resulted in the seizure of large quantities of skunk, opioids, and other narcotics, as the agency intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks nationwide.
