Afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the heartbreaking news in a series of emotional posts on her Instagram page early Wednesday, expressing deep grief over the loss.
In one of the posts, Niniola wrote, “God took him,” while another simply read, “My husband died.”
In a separate emotional message, the singer reflected on their long relationship, writing, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”
Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to afro-house and contemporary African music.
Details surrounding the cause of his death were not immediately made public. Niniola, known for keeping her private life away from social media and public attention, had rarely spoken about her marriage publicly.
The 39-year-old singer rose to fame after emerging runner-up at the 2013 edition of Project Fame West Africa and later gained international acclaim with her hit single “Maradona,” which received recognition from global music stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland and Beyoncé.
