₦500m bribe rejected as Police bust ₦7.8bn drug syndicate in Lagos

Operatives of the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force have uncovered a major drug trafficking syndicate in Lagos, seizing suspected “Canadian Loud” worth ₦7.8 billion and arresting several suspects, including alleged kingpin, Eke Henry Ifeanyi.

The operation, carried out in Mende, Maryland, followed months of intelligence gathering and surveillance by the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and divisional police detectives.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed that the suspect allegedly offered the SPU commander a ₦500 million bribe to compromise the operation and allow the drugs to be moved, but the offer was rejected and documented.

Police authorities described the raid as a major breakthrough against organized crime, praising the professionalism of officers involved. Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, also commended the operatives, saying the development reflects renewed integrity and discipline within the Force.

The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to track other members of the syndicate.
