Lagos Police arrest four suspected cultists, recover firearms in Ojo

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists and hitmen allegedly linked to a series of violent crimes and killings in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwokolo, also known as “Oblo” (35), Ayola Israel, alias “Essy Pawpaw” (39), Ebuka Nnamdi (31), and Chinedu Okafor (22), were apprehended at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi following credible intelligence received by the police.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, preliminary investigations uncovered evidence allegedly connecting the suspects to several violent criminal activities within Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities. Investigators reportedly recovered a video from one of the suspects’ mobile phones showing the killing of unidentified persons in the area.

The police further disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted involvement in terrorising residents through killings and other violent crimes.

Subsequent searches conducted by operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and thirteen live cartridges believed to have been used in carrying out criminal operations.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in other criminal cases, identify additional gang members, and apprehend their accomplices. The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating cultism, violent crimes, and other criminal activities across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police to enhance public safety and security.
