Armed gunmen have abducted Olaide John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the victims were kidnapped around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school. The gunmen reportedly seized both the mother and her sons during the attack.
Awogboro said security agencies were immediately alerted and have launched efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible. He appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and support ongoing investigations by providing any useful information to the authorities.
The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said tactical teams had been deployed following the recovery of the victim’s vehicle. Police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka stated that investigations are underway and assured residents that all necessary resources are being mobilised to secure the safe release of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The abduction comes weeks after Adelabu resigned as Minister of Power to pursue his 2027 governorship ambition in Oyo State.
