Police arrest man for allegedly beating father to death

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, to death following a violent altercation in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred on May 28 when a dispute between the suspect and his father reportedly escalated into a physical assault. The victim sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later confirmed dead by attending doctors.

The case was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect. Following the complaint, detectives launched an investigation and swiftly arrested the suspect.

Police said the deceased’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The command stated that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served.

The police also urged members of the public to avoid violence and embrace lawful and peaceful means of resolving disputes.
