75-year-old drug dealer falls arrested by NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 75-year-old man, Okebe Samuel, in Ebonyi State as part of a series of nationwide operations targeting drug trafficking networks.

According to the agency, Samuel was apprehended in Okposi community after operatives recovered 300 grammes of skunk, a strain of cannabis, packaged in retail quantities and allegedly meant for local distribution.

The arrest formed part of coordinated anti-drug raids conducted across several states. In Taraba State, NDLEA officers intercepted a truck conveying building materials from Anambra to Jalingo and uncovered a large cache of opioids concealed beneath the cargo. A 22-year-old suspect, Buhari Abdullahi, was arrested in connection with the seizure, which included more than 320,000 capsules of tramadol, pentazocine injections, rohypnol tablets and codeine-based syrup.

In Imo State, operatives arrested 32-year-old Chioma Okeke in Orlu Local Government Area with eight kilogrammes of cannabis. Four other suspects were also apprehended in Edo State with various illicit substances, including methamphetamine and synthetic drugs.

Meanwhile, in Kano State, 19-year-old Saifullahi Lawan was arrested in Madobi Local Government Area with 40 blocks of skunk.

NDLEA spokesperson, , said the operations were intelligence-led and aimed at disrupting drug supply chains across both urban and rural communities.

The agency noted that investigations are ongoing and all suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
