Police arrest notorious cultist, recover locally made pistol in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspected cultist and armed robber, identified as Odeshola Afeez, following a swift response to a distress call in the Ebute Metta area of the state.

According to the Command, operatives were deployed after residents reported that a young man was causing panic and harassing passers-by in the community. On arrival at the scene, the suspect was apprehended, and a search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one cartridge, and some suspected charms concealed in his possession.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect is a known cultist who had allegedly been terrorising residents and engaging in activities capable of disturbing public peace. Police further disclosed that he had been evading arrest prior to his eventual capture.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying efforts against cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police through designated emergency lines.
