How Police tracked, arrested ‘PFIPC DG’ Adeyemi in Osun village

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested the alleged Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, in Osun State, hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest.

Adeyemi was reportedly apprehended by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) at a village in Ijesaland after being tracked for several days. He has since been taken to Abuja to face prosecution.

Justice Mohammed Umar had earlier ordered his arrest after he failed to appear in court for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation. The court subsequently fixed September 30 for his arraignment.

According to police, Adeyemi is accused of forging official documents and presenting himself as the head of the alleged PFIPC, which investigators say is not a legally established federal agency. He has denied the allegations, insisting he stayed away from public view because of threats to his life.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to allow an independent investigation into allegations linked to the PFIPC controversy. Gbajabiamila has denied any wrongdoing.
