The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal, has celebrated his birthday with party leaders and members at the ADC secretariat in Itoko, Abeokuta.
Lawal marked the occasion alongside the state executive committee, local government chairmen, women leaders, candidates and other party stakeholders.
The celebration also came shortly after the Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal challenging Lawal’s emergence as the ADC governorship candidate, effectively affirming his candidacy.
Speaking at the event, Lawal said he deliberately chose to celebrate his birthday with members of the party because of his belief in the ADC as a political family.
“I chose to be here on my birthday with our party leaders and members because the ADC is a family, and our collective strength lies in our unity, solidarity and shared commitment to building a better Ogun State,” he said.
The governorship candidate thanked the party leadership, led by the state chairman, Otunba Dr Oluwafemi Soluade, as well as members across the state for their support and solidarity.
He used the occasion to call for greater unity and cohesion among party leaders, executives and grassroots structures, stressing that a coordinated effort would be necessary to achieve the party’s objectives in the forthcoming elections.
Lawal also appealed to residents of Ogun State to support his governorship ambition, promising to work towards improved development, greater opportunities and better welfare for citizens.
The state chairman, Soluade, described Lawal as a “dogged fighter” and congratulated him on the recent Court of Appeal victory, which he described as a “double portion of blessing.”
Soluade urged party leaders, candidates and members to “count their blessings one by one” and remain focused, united and committed as preparations for the elections intensify.
He stressed the importance of cooperation and collective effort in advancing the ADC’s political aspirations in Ogun State.
The celebration ended with goodwill messages and renewed expressions of solidarity among party leaders and members in attendance.
