Arsenal crowned a remarkable season by lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years after a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Already confirmed as champions earlier in the week following Manchester City’s slip against Aston Villa, Arsenal sealed the campaign in style with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke.
Crystal Palace pulled one back through Jean-Philippe Mateta, but the visitors held firm to finish the season on 85 points, seven ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
The final whistle sparked jubilant celebrations as Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard lifted the Premier League trophy in front of travelling supporters.
Manager Mikel Arteta rotated his squad ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, while teenage midfielder Max Dowman made history as the youngest starter in Premier League history at 16 years and 144 days.
Arsenal opened the scoring after Dowman’s clever flick released Gabriel Martinelli, who set up Jesus to finish clinically at the near post.
The champions doubled their advantage in the second half when Kai Havertz headed a corner back into the danger area for Madueke to volley home. The goal marked Arsenal’s record 19th league goal from a corner this season.
Palace threatened a comeback late on after Mateta scored, and Yeremy Pino later found the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said the title triumph brought “joy and relief” after years of hard work and setbacks.
Odegaard also praised the team’s resilience, saying Arsenal overcame doubt and difficult moments throughout the campaign by sticking together as a group.
Both clubs now turn their attention to European finals, with Crystal Palace set to face Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final, while Arsenal prepare for their Champions League showdown against PSG.
