Elsa Majimbo is a 21-year-old Kenyan. She said in an interview with Forbes that she considers all of Africa to be her home, thus she doesn’t identify with just one country.
Given that she is a very intelligent person who despises the concept of attending school, her journey thus far has been comical, to say the least.
This chess champion had no intention of pursuing a career in media or entertainment at first, but she changed her mind after one of her videos went viral.
She came to the conclusion that she could simultaneously achieve two objectives: first, use her newfound fame to acquire the wealth she had always sought, and second, forgo ever setting foot inside another classroom.
She said she had always known she would be exceptional, but she had never anticipated things turning out the way they did.
She decided to take advantage of the unending demand for content during the pandemic in 2020, which is when she started her career as a comedian. By producing videos that skillfully contrasted the youthful yearning for recognition with a rebellion against the humble culture that is currently making waves in mainstream culture, she was able to expand her Instagram and Tik Tok fan base.
Her skits are really bold, but they still manage to be hilarious. Her comedy is oddly entertaining in part because of the mismatch between what she says and how she appears.
The perspective she portrays in her skits is an excellent depiction of the feelings many individuals have but are hesitant to express out loud for fear of coming off as insensitive and self-centered.
She recorded a video explaining how you need to “talk to her manager before you can book an appointment with her” in her debut skit despite being broke and having poor grades. In the skit, she also famously said, “didn’t go looking for fame; fame came looking for me.” This audacity is what won her fans’ hearts.
Elsa Majimbo, who is currently the youngest person on the Forbes list (the Forbes 30 under 30 to be exact), has seen a spectacular ascent to fame since the pandemic, which is, quite frankly, inspirational.
