President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to arrive later on Tuesday.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President chose to return to Nigeria through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, widely regarded as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.

While in Lagos, the President will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, spending a week in London before travelling to Paris.

During his stay in the French capital, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.

On Monday, Tinubu also met with Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.

Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.

The project, according to the statement, is expected to attract a $7 billion investment from DP World, a global ports and logistics operator.

Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
