Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old, saying he has evidence to support the allegation.

Atiku made the claim in a BBC interview while explaining his decision to contest the 2027 presidential election.

“I have a president who is 90 years old now, and who is sick. I am healthy; I am strong. So why would I not make my services available to my fellow countrymen?” he said.

Atiku added that he would present the evidence in court.

The former vice-president also defended his decision to contest the presidency again, describing it as his constitutional right. He said his political career had been marked by repeated challenges, including being disqualified from gubernatorial contests by military authorities during Nigeria’s transition to democracy.

On insecurity, Atiku blamed the persistence of insurgency and other security challenges on what he described as government irresponsibility and inadequate attention to defence and policing.

He said Nigeria could significantly reduce insecurity within one year if adequate resources were committed to strengthening the country’s security architecture.
