A 39-year-old female tenant, OpeOluwa Agoro, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly biting off the right ear of her neighbour, Oloruntofunmi Folorunso, during an argument over electricity bill.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 27, on Oremeta Street in the Igode area of the state.
According to the police, Agoro and Folorunso had been arguing over the electricity bill for some time. On the day of the incident, the argument escalated and Agoro allegedly bit off Folorunso’s ear.
Folorunso was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and he is in stable condition.
However, eyewitnesses of the incident said on that faithful day, the power company had disconnected the house from electricity and to resolve the matter, Folorunso was asked to go round to collect the sum of N500 each from fellow tenants.
While other tenants paid, Agoro refused. An argument ensued and before anyone knew it, Agoro held on to Folorunso, drew him closer and bit off his right ear.
Agoro has been arrested and charged with assault. She is currently in police custody, awaiting trial.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola: “The suspect has been arrested. The victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
