Student kidnapped over sharing formula of yahoo loot

Proceeds fraudulently received from an online transaction otherwise known as Yahoo-yahoo has led to the kidnap of a student of the Bauchi State University, Gadau.

According to the State’s Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, one Ojo Tobi David, a 400-level Science Laboratory Student of the University was kidnapped by his cronies over a disagreement from sharing the sum of $3,800.

In his words: “The suspects kidnapped Ojo Tobi David, 23, a 400-level student of SLT Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG), from Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate of Azare Town, Bauchi State.

“After kidnapping the victim, the suspects snatched a Toyota Camry 2010 with Reg No. KYW-925-SB, took their victim inside and swiftly headed to the Misau Road Azare.

“On receipt of the distress call, the soldiers stationed at the Azare/Misau military checkpoint responded immediately and intercepted the stolen vehicle alongside the suspects. Meanwhile, the victim was rescued unhurt.”

The police frontman also said the following were seized from the gang: eight phones, a knife and charms.

“However, one of the suspects, Damilola James, of Turum area, Bauchi, fell while trying to escape. He was taken to Federal Medical Center (FMC) Azare for immediate medical attention but was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“A preliminary investigation at Divisional Police Headquarters Azare indicates that the crux of the matter was a result of a misunderstanding over the sharing of 3800 US dollars obtained in a Yahoo transaction.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for further investigation.”
