Student stabbed during local football argument in Bauchi

A student in the department of Bio-Chemistry, Za’adu Zungur University, Gadau, Bauchi State, was on Saturday, stabbed by a community hoodlum during an argument relating to their community football clubs.

The student, Safiyanu Adamu, had engaged in a heated argument with some hoodlums during a football match between Green-White-Green House and GT House.

It was gathered that the heated argument escalated a fight between the student and a hoodlum and it was during the fight the hoodlum stabbed the student on his right hand wrist with a knife and fled the scene.

The bleeding student was rushed to Gadau General Hospital by some students and others, who came to watch the match, where first aid was administered, and he was referred to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Azare.

Speaking from his hospital bed on Tuesday, the recuperating student said it was one Lado that went home and brought two knives with which he was stabbed.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, a Policeman in Gadau said the Police in the state efforts was what prevented the incident from degenerating into violence, as they were able to curb the student community, who were mobilising themselves for a reprisal attack.

He however noted that at the moment, peace has returned and the community is no longer tensed.
