President Bola Tinubu has said Nigeria’s economy is on a steady path of growth, attributing the progress to the financial, fiscal and tax reforms implemented by his administration over the past three years.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from Deloitte Africa, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Ruwayda Redfearn, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu said the reforms had helped stabilise the economy, strengthened fiscal and revenue management, repositioned financial institutions and laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth.
“Reforms are difficult, but they are yielding positive results. Nigeria is making serious foundational progress, and the reforms on revenue will continue to stimulate growth,” the President said.
He commended Deloitte Africa for recognising the administration’s efforts and urged the global professional services firm to deepen its contribution to Nigeria’s economy by investing in youth development through training and employment opportunities.
Recalling his early career in accountancy, Tinubu praised Deloitte’s training culture and expressed confidence in the firm’s ability to help build local capacity.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, also highlighted the impact of the government’s reforms and encouraged Deloitte to support skills development for young Nigerians.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Deloitte Africa CEO Ruwayda Redfearn reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda.
She said Deloitte, which employs more than 500,000 people globally, including over 6,000 in Africa, generated $74 billion in revenue in 2025 and was ready to deploy both its local and global expertise to assist Nigeria’s economic transformation.
“We have a local team on the ground, as well as the global firm, ready to support your administration as you lead the country,” Redfearn said.
Also speaking, Deloitte West Africa CEO Yomi Olugbenro described Nigeria’s ongoing reforms as a solid foundation for long-term development, stressing that the next challenge was ensuring the benefits reached ordinary citizens.
He said Deloitte would leverage its global experience in supporting governments around the world to help Nigeria maximise the gains of its reform programme.
