Nigeria has evacuated its first imported Ebola patient to Switzerland for further medical care after her condition improved.

The Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, said the patient departed Abuja on Monday alongside her spouse, who remains asymptomatic.

According to Pate, the woman is stable, conscious and communicating, while her laboratory results are approaching baseline levels.

However, he cautioned that her improved condition does not mean she is no longer infectious, stressing that strict safety protocols remain in place.

The minister commended the medical personnel who treated the patient and public health officials who coordinated the evacuation in line with established safety procedures.

He said further updates would be provided after the patient and her spouse arrived safely at their destination.

Pate also assured Nigerians that public health measures to contain the imported Ebola virus were ongoing, urging the public to remain vigilant and rely on credible sources for information.
