In 2022, Lagos State was ranked by The Economist of London as the second worst city to live in in the world. However, today, the state lifts the touch as the fourth worst city in the world to live in.

In it’s June 2023 Global Liveability report, published on Thursday, The Economist Intelligence Unit, also published by The Economist of London, Lagos the former capital of Nigeria has faired better than cities like Tripoli in Libya, Algiers in Algeria and Damascus in Syria.

“Cities such as Lagos and Algiers gained ground at bottom ranking, with some improvements in their healthcare and education systems. Both are in countries that are energy exporters and have to some extent benefited from higher global oil and gas prices.

“Although corruption continues to be an issue, some additional public funding has been made available for infrastructure and public services, which have also benefited from the decline in covid cases.”

Other cities in the list of the top 10 worst cities to live in are:-Dhaka in Bangladesh, Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, Harare in Zimbabwe, Douala in Cameroon and Tehran in Iran.
