Popular Nigerian Journalist, David Hundeyin, was on Wednesday detained at Harare Airport, Zimbabwe.
The controversial journalist made this known via his verified Twitter account on Wednesday night.
In a series of tweets, he claimed that the airport officials held him for entering the country without a visa- eventhough he had used “a travel document of a country with a visa-free relationship”.
According to him, they said his nationality is still Nigerian.
The agitated Journalist highlighted his experience in a locked room where he was kept for over 10 hours with another African lady who was also facing the same problem.
Hundeyin said his “return flight to Addis has been rescheduled for tonight,” adding that he is “ready to hop on my flight and never come back to Zimbabwe for the rest of my life.”
He further updated his page with an information that he was ” allowed to use the loo for the first time in 10 hours, and I’ve been assured that I will be allowed to catch my exit flight.”
As at press 23:55pm on Wednesday night, Hundeyin had not given any update about his return. He however stated earlier that “I am ready to hop on my flight and never come back to Zimbabwe for the rest of my life.🙏🏿
“Please, someone out there who is actually in charge of something should let me go so I can be on my merry way. I’m not interested in visiting Zimbabwe anymore.
I want to go home. Please.🙏🏿”, he begged.
Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians had commented on his handle, condemning what they described as “the inhuman treatment” the Zimbabweans had meted on the vibrant Journalist.
