The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that it secured the conviction of one Misbah Ahmed before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court.
The convict, it was revealed gave false information to operatives of the commission necessitating a sentence of one year imprisonment.
According to the EFCC, Ahmed deceived officials of the Commission to the effect that a large sum of money in foreign currency was concealed in a house located at Federal Housing Low-cost, Tudun Wada, Zamfara State.
His charge reads, “That you, Misbah Ahmad sometime in June, 2023 at Kaduna, within the jurisdiction of the Kaduna State High Court willfully gave false information to an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission; that a large sum of money in United States of America currency (USD) was fraudulently kept at a residence located at Federal Housing Low-cost, Tudun Wada Zamfara State, which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 39(a) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment ) Act, 2004 and punishable under Section 39(2) (b) of the same Act”.
Ahmed, however, pleaded guilty to the one count charge, just as Justice Khobo convicted and sentenced him to one year imprisonment or a fine of N 100,000.
