Bilkisu Alhaji Idi, who seperated from her husband in December 2023, has been found dead with her head missing, after lodging into Happy Day Hotel Adamawa with a yet to be identified man, now at large.
Staff of the hotel told newsmen that the deceased came in company of the man on Thursday, at about 7pm but they discovered her decapitated body without its head on Friday morning, while her male companion was no where to be found.
One of the workers, while speaking on the incident said he believes the deceased was drugged by her companion before he beheaded her and fled with her head as narcotics were found in the room.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the staff said:
“This is a rude shock. He left the hotel after one and a half hours, purportedly to pick up some items at a nearby store.
“When we entered the room on Friday morning, we found drugs, and we believe he drugged her before cutting off her head.”
The Adamawa state police through its spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje while confirming the incident on Saturday said three members of staff, who were on duty that day have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The police also said the deceased ex-husband, Auwal Garba, identified the remains of his estranged wife on Friday, before it was deposited at the Specialist Hospital morgue.
The deceased ex-husband revealed he and the deceased got married about six years ago before they separated in December.
Garba said: “The union produced one child, but due to some irreconcilable differences, we went our separate ways in December, 2023.
“She called me on Thursday, which is the day she was killed at Happy Day Guest Inn, that she wanted to talk to our child, but I informed her that the child is with his grand mother.”
Promising to update the public as more details unfold, SP Nguroje said:
“Yes, a lady was found dead in a hotel here in Yola this morning. Some narcotics were also recovered from the room, but at the moment, we are still investigating.
“We currently have three suspects in our custody in connection to the crime. The arrested suspects are Offa Jacob, a receptionist; Yufarta Caleb, a receptionist; and Habitu Isah, asecurity guard.
“The lady Bilkisu Alhaji Idi was beheaded by a suspected ritualist who lodged into the hotel with her in Yola North Local Government, Adamawa State on 18 January 2024.
“The suspects are in protective custody and giving useful information that will aid investigation.
“More details will be communicated soon.”
