Adamawa police deploys special taskforce as judge’s wife is kidnapped

The Adamawa state Police Command has confirmed the adduction of one Zainab Abbas, wife of a High Court judge in the state.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Suleiman Nguroje, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abbas was whisked away by gunmen between 1-2am on Wednesday at Nyibango, Army Barracks road in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State.

However, in a statement released by the police in the wake of the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola said that a rescue team drafted from the Crack Squad and Special Rapid Response Team had been unleashed on the trail of the kidnappers.

The Police spokesperson further said that the team has been ordered to go on raids at suspected criminal dens and arrest criminal minded individuals and their cronies.

Hear him: “These deployments will surely assist in coordinating a timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on those found committing crimes. The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and Deployment to Coordinate the Designed Rescue operation as all DPOs are to adopt stop and search exercise.”
