Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress presidential primaries, describing the results as “concocted” and riddled with irregularities.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Tuesday, Amaechi accused the party leadership of overseeing widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice during the exercise. He insisted he would only accept results from a process that was free, fair and transparent.
The former governor alleged that nearly 80 per cent of party members were prevented from voting, questioning the credibility of the process and warning that the ADC risked becoming no different from the political parties it often criticises.
Amaechi also accused the party of engaging in vote buying, result manipulation and other practices it had previously condemned in the ruling APC and INEC.
Although the ADC leadership is yet to officially announce the final results, early figures from several states reportedly showed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar leading the contest, with Amaechi trailing behind.
