Popular comedian and actor, Ayo Makun also known as AY, and his family are safe after their house in Lagos caught fire on Sunday afternoon.

The fire, which started at around 3:00pm on Sunday, quickly spread through the two-story building. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze after about an hour, but not before significant damage was done.

AY was not home at the time of the fire. Those in the know revealed that he was in Abuja for business when it happened. His wife, Mabel, and their two children were also not home as they were holidaying abroad.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, initial reports suggest that it may have been caused by an electrical fault.

The versatile movie producer, actor and entertainer, later took to his Instagram handle and stated that his family was safe and gave gratitude to God for his protection.

“Family and God – that is what’s important. Everything else comes and goes. Can’t wait to join you guys in the US in a few,” he posted on his Instagram page.
