The Edo state police has paraded one Sunday Ejeh, a detained 39-year-old farmer, who allegedly specialises in defiling young girls below the ages of nine in the community.
Sunday was taken to the station and handed over to the law enforcement officers by the community youths for allegedly raping of a nine-year old girl in Ugbogi community, Ighobazuwa , Ovia North West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Parading the culprit on Monday, Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) revealed that the youths who brought the suspect to the station said he raped a 9-year-old girl in the community and tipped her with N600 to appease her and conceal the crime.
The command PPRO also said that following the culprit’s arrest, the gender unit of the command criminal’s investigative department conducted an investigation, and the result exposed the farmer as a serial rapist, who specialises in raping young girls, as this was not his first or only victim.
The investigation revealed that Sunday usually gather female youngsters below the ages of nine in his room, the scene of the crime, and randomly have sex with them.
After committing the criminal offence, the farmer will give his victim of the day, N600 as take home pay.
The suspect during an interview with newsmen however admitted he had carnal knowledge of the 9-year-old victim but said he did it only once, and that was in January.
The farmer said he has not raped any other girl and that contrary to reports, she came to his house and lured him into the crime, after which, he paid her N1500 not N600.
Confessing to the crime, the suspect said:
“The incident happened sometime in January when this girl came to my house and demanded that I give her money and have sexual intercourse with her.
“I said no but she said if I refused to do it, she will shout that I want to rape her. So, I agreed and after sleeping with her I gave her N1,500 and she left.
“One day, long after the incident, I came back from the farm and the community youths started beating me and took me to the station, that I raped a small girl.
“She is my first and I have not had sex with any other girl in the community.”
