Despite his many denials, 46 years old Adekunle Olawale was on Wednesday remanded by a Magistrates’Court in Yaba, Lagos state, for allegedly sexually assaulting his eight years old daughter on several occasions at their Ebute-Metta residence.
Olawale who was put in the dock by the Police in the state before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka was accused of always defiling the little girl any time his wife was out of the house.
“I did not do it. God will judge, he will separate the truth from lies,” he screamed after he was ordered to be taken to prison.
Prosecuting officer, Thomas Nurudeen, informed the court that the accused committed the crime in 2022. He also said that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
His charge read: “That you, Adekunle Olawale, between in 2022 at Ebute-Metta, Yaba, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District unlawfully defiled one girl (name withheld) aged eight years and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Before the case was adjourned to July 7, 2023, the prosecutor asked that Olawale be put in custody of the correctional centre until the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) gives a legal advice.
His request was granted.
