Four residents of Gombe state who specialises in goat theft in small communities in the state have been arrested by the state police and will be charged to court for the crime.
The suspects are 18-year-old Hassan Adamu, 20-year-old Abdulaziz Abubakar, 25-year-old Abdullahi Shuaibu and one other.
Parading the suspects at the State Police command on Sunday, ASP Mahid Abubakar, told newsmen that the thieves perpetrates the crime within Malam Inna and Wuro Kesa communities in the state.
He said the gang operates using a tricycle popularly known as keke, and that after successfully stealing the goats, they sell at varying amounts in neighbouring communities.
ASP Abubakar said officers from the state command, guided by intelligence, acted and nabbed the suspects at different locations where they use as hideouts.
The command’s spokesperson said all suspects voluntarily admitted to have committed the act and stated their roles in the crime.
He said exhibits recovered from the gang included a tricycle and one goat, adding that all suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as police wind up its investigations.
