Group hails Tinubu at 3 years, urges consolidation of economic reforms

The Committee for the Protection of People’s Mandate (CPPM) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his third year in office, commending his administration for what it described as bold and courageous economic reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for a brighter future.

In a press statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Executive Director, Nelson Ekujumi, the group said President Tinubu assumed office at a difficult period marked by deep fiscal and structural challenges, noting that his administration’s economic policies, though painful, have restored hope for better days ahead.

CPPM stated that major decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange unification, and expansion of student loan access were difficult but necessary steps to address economic leakages and create fiscal space for development.

The group acknowledged that the reforms have generated hardship for many Nigerians but maintained that they were designed to secure the nation’s long-term future rather than provide short-term political comfort.

It urged the Federal Government to consolidate on the reforms in order to make life more bearable for citizens and residents across the country.

Highlighting achievements recorded under the administration, CPPM pointed to improvements in infrastructure funding, social investment programmes, and ongoing projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Highway, Benin-Ore Expressway, Kaduna-Lokoja Highway, airport terminal upgrades, seaport reconstruction, NELFUND, and CREDICORP initiatives.

The organization also praised security agencies for what it described as increased operational successes against terrorism and criminal networks, while acknowledging that security challenges still persist in parts of the country.

On institutional reforms, CPPM noted efforts by the administration to strengthen anti-corruption agencies, digitize government services, and improve the ease of doing business as signs of commitment to better governance.

The group described nation-building as “a marathon, not a 100 meters sprint,” urging Nigerians to remain patient, steadfast, and committed to democratic principles despite prevailing economic and social difficulties.

CPPM also cautioned citizens against misinformation and incitement by what it called anti-democratic elements seeking to destabilize the country.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and constructively engaging governments at all levels to ensure that democratic mandates translate into prosperity, security, and dignity for Nigerians.
