Tragedy has struck the education community in Lagos following the death of Mrs. Ajayi Ikweoku, principal of Salvation Army Memorial High School, Ojo, and her husband during a Sallah trip to Badagry.

According to reports, the couple checked into Prime Garden Hotel along Census Extension in Badagry while attending Sallah celebrations and meeting with business associates and family friends.

Sources said the couple spent time with friends at the hotel lobby, where they reportedly had a light meal and non-alcoholic drinks before Mrs. Ajayi later returned to their room.

Concern arose after she failed to return or respond to calls for nearly two hours. Her husband subsequently went upstairs to check on her but also failed to return.

Friends and hotel staff reportedly became alarmed after repeated attempts to contact the couple proved unsuccessful. Reports said the room was locked from the inside, prompting fears that something was wrong.

After several hours without any response, hotel management allegedly accessed the room through emergency procedures and discovered the couple lying motionless in the bathroom area.

Staff members later entered the room with a spare key and reportedly found the husband and wife dead inside a bathtub, surrounded by vomit.

The incident has left family members, colleagues, students, and residents in shock, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations, including medical examinations, to determine the exact cause of death.
