Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has confirmed his exit from the (ADC), citing persistent internal conflicts and divisions within the party.
In a statement released on Sunday, Obi said his decision was driven by “endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division,” which he noted were distracting the party from addressing pressing national issues.
He clarified that his departure was not due to any personal grievances with key party figures, including the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, or former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, whom he described as respected leaders.
Obi, however, alleged that external interference and political tensions similar to those that plagued the Labour Party had begun to surface within the ADC, creating an unhealthy environment.
He stressed that the party’s focus appeared to have shifted from national development to internal power struggles, prompting his decision to step away.
