Police probe ammunition parcel delivered to FirstBank MD

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition that was delivered to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters on Tuesday, revealing that detectives are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the delivery.

According to the CP, the incident was reported on May 7, 2026, after two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were discovered concealed in a parcel addressed to the FirstBank MD. The package was reportedly received by Alebiosu’s security guard before being handed over to him.

“The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf. The case is still under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves,” Tijani said.

Sources within the bank said the parcel was delivered to Alebiosu’s Ikoyi residence by a dispatch rider and was marked confidential, carrying only the recipient’s details without any information identifying the sender.

Investigators are examining whether the parcel was intended as a threat or linked to any criminal activity. Police said no arrests have been made so far, but several leads are being pursued, including information provided by the complainant.

The command added that forensic and intelligence-driven investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the delivery.
