Police operatives have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, , and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, three days after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims regained their freedom during a police rescue operation carried out on Saturday evening following days of intelligence gathering and tracking of the kidnappers’ movements.
According to security sources, the operation led to a gun battle between police officers and members of the kidnapping gang. Two suspected kidnappers were killed during the exchange, while two firearms were recovered from the scene.
Mrs. John-Paul and her children were kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3 while on their way to the children’s school in Ibadan.
Sources familiar with the operation said the police employed intelligence-led tactics and sustained pressure on the suspects, which eventually forced a confrontation that resulted in the successful rescue of the victims.
The rescued family members were reportedly unharmed, bringing relief to relatives and ending days of uncertainty over their whereabouts.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had yet to issue an official statement on the rescue operation.
