Police rule out bomb attack in Mushin explosion incident

The Lagos State Police Command has concluded its investigation into the recent explosion incident in Mushin, confirming that the event was not caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), terrorist activity, sabotage, or any other criminal use of explosives.

According to the findings, forensic and technical examinations revealed no traces of explosive materials, detonators, initiation systems, explosive residues, or blast patterns typically associated with bomb attacks or acts of terrorism.

Investigators established that the incident resulted from the catastrophic failure of a pressurised mechanical component located outside the affected vehicle. The failure triggered a sudden release of energy, causing the front passenger-side glass panels of the vehicle to shatter.

The occupant of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and received appropriate attention.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, authorities have officially classified the incident as a mechanical explosion rather than a security-related or criminal act.

The Police Command reassured residents that there was no threat of terrorism or sabotage linked to the incident and urged members of the public to remain calm while relying on verified information from security agencies.
