Three Nigerian sisters found dead bear Brighton beach in London

Three women whose bodies were recovered from the sea near Brighton Beach in London have been identified as Nigerian sisters, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were alerted to the Madeira Drive area at about 5:45am on May 13 following concerns for a person’s welfare. The bodies of the three women were later pulled from the water.

The victims were identified as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, all from the Uxbridge area of London.

Their father, Joseph, described the sisters as the “beautiful light” of the family, saying they brought joy, love and comfort to everyone around them.

“Jane, Christina and Becky were more than daughters to me; they were my joy, my strength and the beautiful light that filled our family with happiness and love,” he said.

Police said there is currently no evidence of foul play or indication that another person was involved in the incident. However, specialist detectives are continuing investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Investigators have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and spoken with residents and businesses near the beach in a bid to trace the sisters’ final movements.

Authorities have appealed to anyone who may have seen the women around Madeira Drive between 10pm on May 12 and 5:30am on May 13 to come forward with useful information.

Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said officers are committed to leaving “no stone unturned” while urging the public to respect the family’s privacy during the difficult time.
