President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, pending confirmation by the Senate.
The nomination, which has been formally transmitted to the National Assembly, follows the resignation of the former minister, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office.
Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a seasoned fiscal and economic reform expert with more than 35 years of experience across both public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major initiatives in fiscal policy reform, institutional transformation, and governance.
He currently holds the position of Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), where he oversees efforts to deepen bilateral development cooperation between Nigeria and China, including coordination with public sector stakeholders in line with Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) objectives.
Tegbe also brings relevant experience in the power sector, having been involved in regulatory and institutional reforms with agencies such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).
According to the presidency, his nomination is expected to bolster ongoing reforms in the power sector, improve grid stability, and attract sustainable investment under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
