Tinubu urges sacrifice, unity as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, unity, and renewed hope for the country.

In his Eid message released on Tuesday, the President thanked Almighty God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid celebration, describing the festival as a reminder of the virtues of faith, obedience, and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

Tinubu said Eid-el-Kabir calls on all Nigerians, regardless of religion or ethnicity, to demonstrate mercy, compassion, and commitment to the collective good of the nation.

According to him, Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, remains one of the greatest examples of devotion and duty to God.

The President noted that Nigeria is currently undergoing a period of reconstruction and renewal, stressing that the reforms introduced by his administration, though difficult, were necessary to secure a stronger and more prosperous future for the country.

He expressed satisfaction that the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the government over the past three years had started yielding positive economic results, including improved stability and increased investor confidence.

“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated, adding that ongoing reforms would continue to create opportunities, improve security, and drive economic growth.

Tinubu also acknowledged lingering security challenges in some parts of the country despite efforts by security agencies. He referenced the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader and assured affected communities that the Federal Government remained committed to defeating terrorism and banditry.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.

The President urged Muslims to use the sacred occasion to pray for peace, national unity, and wisdom for leaders at all levels.

He also called on Nigerians to support the less privileged, share with neighbours, and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and national cohesion during the celebration.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development to ensure citizens can live peacefully and pursue their aspirations without fear.

He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed for Allah to accept the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful.

“Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” the President said.
