The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of retired Ogun Television staffer, Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, following an intensive investigation that combined forensic analysis, intelligence gathering and technical tracking.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
According to the police, the case was reported on June 21, 2026, when officers at Owode-Egba Police Station received information about suspicious circumstances at the residence of Madam Oyesiku. Upon arrival, detectives found the front door partially damaged and the security house locked.
After gaining access to the premises, officers discovered the lifeless body of Pelumi Adetayo, 38, inside the security house, while Madam Oyesiku was found dead in a pool of blood in the living room of the main building.
Investigators processed the crime scene and discovered that the deceased’s Lexus RX 330 SUV was missing, prompting suspicions of robbery and murder. The Command immediately launched a full-scale investigation, deploying intelligence and technical resources to track down the perpetrators and recover the vehicle.
Police operatives successfully traced and recovered the stolen Lexus RX 330 on June 22. Although the vehicle’s ignition key had been removed and its registration plates detached, detectives found one of the number plates hidden beneath a seat, enabling them to positively identify the vehicle as belonging to the deceased.
A major breakthrough came through the forensic examination of a handwritten note allegedly left behind by the perpetrators. Police said the analysis of the note generated critical leads that helped investigators identify and track the suspects.
The principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
According to the police, Philip confessed during interrogation and admitted participating in the murder of Madam Oyesiku. He also told investigators that he recruited Ayoola and Obafunsho to assist in carrying out the crime.
Police further revealed that the principal suspect claimed the attack was intended to “teach her a lesson,” although investigations are continuing to determine the full motive behind the killings.
The Command said all identified suspects connected to the crime are now in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
