Wike: Tinubu’s satellite town infrastructure key to reducing urban migration

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road project linking Gomani to Yangoji in Abuja, describing it as part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at expanding development to satellite communities.

Speaking during an inspection of the project on Thursday, Wike said the Tinubu administration was committed to extending infrastructure beyond the city centre in order to improve connectivity and reduce rural-urban migration across the FCT.

According to the minister, the project is part of a broader infrastructure initiative that started with the A2-Pai road inaugurated by President Tinubu during his second year in office.

Wike explained that the 13-kilometre Gomani-Yangoji road was awarded to Zeberced Construction Company, which also handled the A2-Pai road project.

He noted that construction work had reached an advanced stage, with the bridge already completed and drainage works nearing completion, while installation of streetlight pillars was ongoing.

“From what we have seen, we are highly encouraged. The bridge has been launched, drainage works are almost completed, and work is progressing steadily,” he said.

The minister disclosed that the road project is expected to be inaugurated in June as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Wike commended Zeberced Construction Company for maintaining quality standards and adhering to the project timeline.

He also praised the management and staff of the company for their commitment to delivering the project as scheduled.

According to him, the President would be pleased to see infrastructure projects reaching underserved communities across the FCT, adding that the development would boost economic activities and improve the living conditions of residents in satellite towns.
