Barely a day after irate youths stormed a media house in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital and shut it down, the Osun State Police Command in a statement has guaranteed media organisations and residents of the state of sufficient and appropriate security incase of a similar ambush by the Yoruba Nation agitators.

In the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, asked the general public and media organisations to go about their usual businesses as adequate security measures have been put in place for their safety.

The statement read: “The Osun State Police Command is using this medium to assure the general public, especially the media houses, of adequate security measures put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the state, as the Police Command is aware of what is happening in our neighbouring state concerning the Yoruba Nation Agitators who attempted to hijack one radio station in the early hours of today, May 28, 2023.

“At the same time, Police Command is using the same medium to warn all disgruntled elements that may have the mind of truncating the democratic process of transition of power to jettison the idea forthwith as security agencies will use all legal means to uphold the democratic process in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.

“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, enjoins the general public to continue with their lawful businesses and be law-abiding citizens,” he said.

On Sunday, four members of the Yoruba agitators, among whom was a woman, were arrested by the police after they stormed Amuludun FM 99.1station in Ibadan. While others ran for safety, one of the members was shot down but was rushed to the hospital thereafter.
