Kenyan chef breaks Hilda Baci’s cooking record

In a stunning feat of endurance, Kenyan chef, Maliha Mohammed has unofficially broken the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

Mohammed, who began her cook-a-thon on August 11, cooked for an incredible 95 hours and 30 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 93 hours and 11 minutes set by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci in May.

On Tuesday, via a post on her Instagram handle, Maliha announced her achievement, via a flyer that boldly state, “NEW WORLD RECORD. @seagasltd Yes, we did it! New world record holder for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon in town 😎😎 Shukran for the support 💯”.

Mohammed, who is based in Mombasa, Kenya, cooked a variety of dishes during her marathon, including traditional Kenyan dishes like ugali, nyama choma, and sukuma wiki, as well as international dishes like pasta, pizza, and sushi. She also cooked for a variety of charities, donating all of the food she prepared to those in need.

Mohammed said she was inspired to break the record after hearing about Baci’s achievement. “I saw what Hilda did and I knew I had to try to beat her,” she said. “I wanted to show the world that Kenyan chefs are just as good as any other chefs in the world.”

Nigeria’s Chef, Hilda Baci entered the Guinness Book of Records after she cooked for 93 hours 11 minutes.
