TikToker sentenced to three years imprisonment for defaming actress Eniola Badmus

A TikToker, Okoye Blessing Nwakego was on Wednesday convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for making false allegations against Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus.

The TikToker, who was arraigned on a two count charge was convicted of cyberstalking and defamation of character.

Prosecutors argued that she and one Chimabia now at large “between the month of December 2022 to the month of July 2023, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of the honorable court, did conspire to commit felony to wit: cyberstalking and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 27 of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention, etc) act 2015.”

It was further alleged that she and Chiamabia intentionally transmitted a communication that was offensive and which could also lead to danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, ill will and needless anxiety to the actress.

Following her arraignment, she was convicted of the charges against her by a federal high court on Wednesday.

While on the first count, Nwakego was sentenced to one-year imprisonment with the option of a fine of N50,000. She was however sentenced to two years imprisonment on the second one, with the option of N100,000 fine.

Nwakego, it was learnt has agreed to pay the N150k fine.

Meanwhile, various reactions have come from readers online. While mr_ken_ stated that: “Anybody that say eniola is not a pimp must be a bingo just because her fathers pimpin is in power u sentences people just like that hmmmm okay we here I said it eniola is a pimp”.
