How customer zoomed off with ₦55m Benz while test-driving

Mohammed Manga, an auto dealer is still in a daze. He has even argued that what happened to him only happens in action movies. Undoubtedly, he is still short of words after a client zoomed off with his vehicle – a Mercedes Benz GLB 250.

Manga who is based in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory said a friend who’s also into his kind of business contacted him in his office in Abuja requesting to take the vehicle worth over N55m to a client who was interested in acquiring it.

Manga narrated further that after taking the vehicle to the client who had said his name was Henry, he requested a test drive and as expected, was accompanied by his friend.

The test-drive went well with Henry, however, his friend requested a stop over at a Point of Sale vendor after he noticed that the car needed some petrol.

Not suspecting anything but as his friend stepped out of the vehicle, Henry zoomed off with the vehicle to an unknown destination.

Narrating the incident, Manga said, “A friend of mine called me to tell me that he wants to take my Mercedes Benz GLB 250 to a client. He took the car to his office and the client came there. He said the client introduced himself as Henry from Gwarinpa and that he saw the auto on an online platform.

“He saw the car and said he liked it; they negotiated N55m for the vehicle and he said okay and demanded a test drive. He drove the car with my friend sitting on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. They stopped at the petrol station opposite the auto marshland in Garki to buy petrol.

“But immediately my friend stepped out of the car at the petrol station to withdraw money from the PoS, the driver zoomed off with the vehicle. You know how it is, there’s no hold up in Abuja and that’s how he disappeared with the car.”

As expected, the case has since been reported to the appropriate authority. Manga went ahead to describe the car as grey with a mileage of 19000.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Ameh who confirmed the incident informed that: “The police are tracking the suspect”.
